Hope that you all have had a great start to the week! Our Monday was quite different this week. A significant amount of snow began to fall in the middle of the night on Saturday. I had joked that snow would be the perfect touch for Ryan’s Polar Express on Saturday but I never thought that it would actually happen just hours afterwards. It RARELY snows here this early in the year. We typically experience a couple of snow days in January and February but, during the ten years that I have lived here, this is only the second time that it has snowed in December. (The first was pretty magical because it made for a white Christmas and we were all snowed in together at my parents’ house.) By the end of Monday, we had close to eight inches in total, which is a really nice amount for Raleigh.
Today I am sharing some personal pictures of our time spent playing outside. Ryan is at such a fun age right now for playing in the snow. He can handle being out there for longer periods of time (and his naps were AMAZING). He and David built a snowman the first day and David used the femurs from our Halloween skeleton for the arms because there were no branches to be found. Well, the snowman had toppled over by the next morning and it snowed more in the meantime so the femurs were buried. It made me giggle to see Ryan with his massive excavator digging in the snow for bones and he loved every second. Slightly macabre, but funny nonetheless.
As for Emerson, she had her first experience with snow and it was awesome. It was no surprise to us that our adventurous little one liked crawling in the snow, playing with the snow…and eating the snow. Her favorite part? Being pulled up and down the driveway in the sled. Full of smiles and laughter!
As I glance outside today, it’s clear that today will be the last day to be able to “properly” play in the snow. The sun is shining and the snow is already disappearing. Keeping my fingers crossed that we won’t have to wait too long for another snow day!
