Chambray shirts are easily my number one fashion obsession. Quite honestly, I think that I have more chambray tops in my closet than I do heels. They are extremely versatile and practical which makes them such great additions to your wardrobe. They can be dressed up, dressed down and they typically last for years without showing signs of wear. That is an absolute plus in my book. There tends to be a misconception that chambray shirts are pieces limited to spring or summer wear but they can easily be worn during the winter months. I typically pair mine with a vest and an oversized scarf. There is also the option of styling a cool sweatshirt over top and adding a statement necklace. Today’s post shows the former idea.
For this look, I wanted to keep things casual. I threw on a military green vest (which I wear far more often than I expected). Chambray works really well with this color. In fact, if you own a pair of olive jeans, pairing them with a chambray shirt makes creates a cute look. I recently found this colorful scarf at Anthropologie. It practically beckoned me from the other side of the store. Three things drew me to this particular scarf…the fact that it is an infinity scarf, the combination of colors and the texture. This scarf seems to go with just about any color. Definitely one of my favorite purchases for winter. I opted for heeled boots to add a bit of length to my legs. Ankle length jeans tend to shorten the appearance of the leg so a heel can combat that by providing a nice slimming effect.
Don’t be afraid to keep those chambray shirts in rotation this winter! Just remember that an easy way to wear them is to layer, layer, layer.
We would love to hear your favorite ways that you transition chambray into the cooler weather!
