The two of us cannot resist a steamy mug of hot chocolate once the weather turns a bit chilly. Marshmallows floating on top of the hot chocolate are an absolute bonus. We decided to try and make our own marshmallows out of Cool Whip® topping. Here are the ridiculously simple directions…
1.) In a medium size mixing bowl, stir together one 8oz. container of Cool Whip® and 1/2 cup of water. (The water will allow the Cool Whip® to freeze.)
2.) Mix throughly.
3.) Line a baking tray (preferably a tray at least an inch deep) with wax paper. Pour the mixture into the tray until it is approximately 1/2 inch to 1 inch thick.
4.) Freeze for at least 3 hours.
5.) After the mixture is frozen, take it out of the freezer. Use cookie cutters to cut out various holiday-themed shapes. We used mini cutters to make sure that the finished product would fit in the mug. Make sure to press cookie cutters down firmly.
6.) Place marshmallows into a freezer-safe container that has been lined with wax paper. Store in the freezer and pull out as needed and pop into a yummy cup of hot chocolate.
It was simple, quick, and virtually mess-free. We think that these turned out really cute. We also think that this would be a great project to do with kids!
Hope you all have a great start to your weeks!
xoxo
