Just a week before my baby shower in Raleigh, it dawned on me that I needed something to wear…simply because I could no longer fit into any dresses that I already own. Trust me, I tried and it was not pretty. (Okay, it was hilarious and I almost needed to be cut out of one.)
Throughout my pregnancy I have tried my best to limit the amount of maternity clothing that I have purchased. I have been solely in maternity jeans and pants for many months now but I have been able to wear many of my flawy, bohemian-style pre-pregnancy tops throughout. While shopping for a dress for the shower, I was focused on trying to find a piece that I would be able to wear post-pregnancy as well. I saw this particular dress from afar and was immediately drawn to the color. I knew that it was a gamble as to whether or not it would fit around my expanding…well, my expanding everything.
I tried on the dress and, while it didn’t lay as nicely in the back as it would on a non-pregnant frame, I felt so comfortable. It covered what I wanted it to cover but it also didn’t make me feel like I was wearing a sack. (That’s the problem that I have found with so many maternity dresses…they are either too body-conscious for my shape or are too wide and have no shape, therefore making me feel even larger.) I could see myself getting a ton of wear out of it this fall and winter, and it was classic enough that I knew I could wear it for years. I had found my dress.
I had purchased this amazing necklace at Nordstrom several weeks ago and thought that it gave the dress just enough of a needed edge. It is a great piece from Baublebar and it comes in two different colors via Nordstrom and four different colors on the Baublebar website. This piece is currently on sale on the Nordstorm site for under $30! I love the fact that Baublebar is now selling some items at Nordstrom…I am hoping that the selection there will continue to increase over time!
I scored this Rebecca Minkoff bag during a flash sale months ago. I had been eyeing it at Saks for a loooooong time but struggled to rationalize the price for such an outfit-specific bag. When I found it at almost 60% off, I (rather quickly) convinced myself that it was “a sign”. It’s such a statement bag and is the perfect size to fit everything I need for a day or night out. Unfortunately, I just searched and searched, and it seems that this particular bag is currently sold out. I’ll keep an eye out and see if additional product is added.
I LOVE these boots. I purchased them a couple of years ago and have worn them to many events that require a lot of standing and have always been comfortable. Cole Haan used to use Nike Air technology to maximize comfort in many of their shoes. Recently, they parted ways with Nike but have supposedly developed their own technology. This exact style of boot is no longer available but here is the new version.
Here are Tiffany and me right before the baby shower…such a special day!
Wishing everyone a great start to their week!
