Just when we thought that the weather was cooling down in Raleigh, we were hit with a 78 degree day today. The weather has been so inconsistent here! Just a few days ago, I was bundled up in today’s featured outfit. Good news is that it looks like the temperatures will be dropping again later this week. I am so ready for layers upon layers upon layers…
I am going on 35 weeks pregnant so putting together and outfit is becoming increasingly difficult. Admittedly, when I am home for the night I can’t wait to climb into my pajamas but during the day I notice that I feel much more energized if I feel somewhat presentable. This look is great for this point in the pregnancy for a couple of reasons. The first reason being that, while being cozy, the maternity tank top allows for me to feel like I have a bit of shape. My flowly, bohemian tops tend to add more weight at this point so a fitted tank it a great way of decreasing the amount of “bulk” that I am adding to my upper body. The second reason is that this look allows for an outer layer that is not a pregnancy item. This easy looks allows you to use a non-maternity piece from your closet or gives you a little help justifying a new purchase while pregnant because you can continue to wear it after the baby arrives.
This is obviously also a super easy look for non-pregnant individuals. Layering black on black is slimming and throwing on a scarf and moto boots creates an effortlessly chic look.
Throwing on an oversized scarf can dramatically change your look. It can instantly make it look like you put a lot more effort into your outfit. For fall and winter, I try to search for scarves that are as massive as possible. I like to feel bundled up. Large scarves also give more options for ways to wear them. I received this scarf as a gift a few years ago and it is one of my go-to pieces. It looks great with a plain sweater, with a moto vest, over a tank or with a leather jacket. It is shaped in a square so I tend to fold it in half into the shape of a triangle. I place the triangle over my chest like a bib and wrap the ends around my neck.
These boots are one of my absolute favorite pieces in my closet. I LOVE the distressed look. A pair of biker-inspired boots can elevate an outfit, especially one that consists of a lot of black. These made their way into my closet awhile back courtesy of Nordstrom rewards that I had saved. It is such a fantastic rewards program. I try to do as much of my shopping there as possible because getting money back to use on future purchases is a definite bonus.
Hope that you all are having a great Thursday!
xoxo
