This past weekend I headed up to Roxbury, NY, located in the Catskill Mountains. I was there to attend the destination wedding of my friend, Reagan. We have been friends for almost twenty years so I was extremely excited to witness her say her “I Do’s” to her fiancé, Glen.
I made the trip with one of my very best friends…my mom. We decided to make the 12-hour journey by car and chose to navigate our way from North Carolina to New York via country roads. While it was a long trip, we were blown away by the stunning scenery along the way.
We arrived at our home for the next three days…The Roxbury Motel. The Roxbury Motel is a trendy, boutique hotel complete with a quirky twist. Each room is decorated according to a different theme. Our room was entirely black and white. It is located right in the center of town.
We began the weekend’s festivities by meeting up with friends for cocktails on Thursday night and then attended the rehearsal dinner on Friday night.
We ventured outside on Saturday morning and were thrilled because the weather was absolute perfection. It truly was a gorgeous day for a wedding. We arrived at the wedding location and the day’s events began with an hour of cocktails and then we were guided into the woods for the wedding ceremony.
Reagan appeared on the arm of her father and she truly took my breath away. She looked absolutely gorgeous…and her smile said it all. It was evident that she could not wait to stand next to her handsome groom.
Following the ceremony, guests walked to an additional cocktail hour near the ceremony site. The cocktail hour was on top of a hill, overlooking the beautiful countryside.
The reception was to take place on the same piece of property so I walked down the hill to take some pictures before everyone else started to head in that direction. It was completely picturesque. I turned a corner on the gravel path and there was a barn that made the most beautiful backdrop to a already gorgeous reception site. I also immediately noticed the vintage ambulance. Reagan and Glen are both paramedics and it is because of their jobs that they first met. The ambulance was such a special addition to the site.
My friend, Michelle, decided to get creative with the brooches that she found…
The reception began and we dined on delicious food, engaged in great conversation and soon the dancing began. The dancing took place inside the barn. The band was AMAZING!!!
Towards the end of the night, a gelato stand was set up and, believe me, I was not about to miss out on that opportunity. I devoured a vanilla bean cone covered with my favorite topping, rainbow sprinkles.
As the night drew to a close, my mom and I discussed the fact that both Reagan and Glen had not stopped beaming the entire evening. Their massive smiles NEVER left their faces. It was such a wonderful event and I am incredibly thankful that I was there to witness the union of such an amazing couple! So excited to see what the future holds for this very special couple!
