The Adidas Surge

Okay, while Adidas has never been a brand that has fallen completely out of style, it did seem to fall into the background for many years.  Longtime competitor, Nike, seemed to remain in the forefront, consistently propelled by collaborations with celebrities and athletes alike.  Classics such as Air Jordans and Air Max and old school kicks such as the Cortez have remained priority style purchases within the world of streetwear.  Global lifestyle brands such as Vans and Converse have both experienced ebbs and flows with regards to popularity but have each made a strong comeback in recent years as popularity for a more casual form of fashion grew.  Over the last year, Adidas has now emerged (somewhat seemingly out of nowhere) as an “it” brand.  Pairing up with big names (think Pharrell) and making products that are both cool and functional has proved to be a winning formula for the brand, not to mention some assistance from perfect timing.  People are looking to feel current and edgy but are also placing a strong emphasis on comfort.  Adidas is producing stylish clothing and shoes that offer the best of both worlds.  New clothing pieces have an effortlessly cool vibe and the sneakers offer a fresh take on sportswear meets fashion.  (I have to give a shoutout to my stylish hubby who strongly urged me to purchase a pair of the Ultra Boost.  They are pictured below.  I was absolutely shocked at the amazing fit.  I mean, they are INSANELY comfortable.  Plus, the color is made to resemble Rosé, so there’s that…)

Sharing my favorite Adidas picks below…

Which was your first pair of Adidas?  I wore my black Sambas almost every single day back in elementary school!

High Tops For Fall

Yesterday, I noticed that the flower petals from our Crepe Myrtle trees were beginning to gently fall off.  That, coupled with the beautiful breeze we experienced, made it feel like fall is truly on the horizon.  That’s not to say that we couldn’t have a crazy temperature spike again for a couple of weeks before the temperature actually begins to decrease for good, but it gives me hope.  I have always said that I could happily live somewhere without a summer.  Unless I am laying in a pool or at the beach, heat is not my friend.  In fact, the main thing I miss about L.A. (besides my friends) is the dry climate and the cool nights.  I’m that annoying friend who is wishing for fall within the first week of summer.

The slight change in temperature were are having here in Raleigh is making me so excited fall clothing.  While the hot clothing items for the upcoming season are layering pieces such as dusters, kimonos and cardigans, one of the main shoe trends seems to lean more towards athleisure and cool comfort.  More specifically, high tops are huge for fall.  If you have followed us for awhile, you may have noticed that they have been a favorite of mine for years.  It’s funny because when I wear my high top sneaks, I always have women comment, “I love those shoes but I could never pull off high tops” or “Those are so cool but I’m too old to wear them.”  Listen, my mom is in her late-sixties and she looks so ridiculously cool (and adorable) when she wears her studded high tops.  Forget the traditional rules and just wear what you are drawn to despite that little voice in your head.  I am no spring chicken but I have zero plans of giving up my high tops.  At the very least, give them a try!  A great option this fall is the high top sneaker bootie.  It offers a bit of a more conservative look versus Converse or Vans.  I have linked some great options below.

I am so psyched that there are so many amazing options out right now so I wanted to share my favorite picks with you all!  I have included a variety of price points ranging from affordable kicks to more high-end ones.

Transition Booties Under $100

Friday is here!  This has been such a bizarre week.  I have been one day ahead the entire time.  I keep talking to David about our schedules and he stares at me with a smirk because I have yet to have the days right this week.  Wednesday felt like Thursday and yesterday was Friday in my head.  It’s interesting because several other people have said the same thing.  Maybe the full moon earlier this week made everything feel cattywampus?  Well, despite whatever was in the air, we made it to Friday.  (It IS Friday, right?)

With June and July a distant memory and August cruising by at an alarming rate, we thought it was the perfect time to talk transition booties.  What do we mean by transition booties?  We are talking about low boots that can be worn now during the warmer weather but also all throughout fall and winter as well.  They look adorable paired with cutoff denim shorts or a floral dress but as soon as temps drop, they can be styled with skinny jeans and a cozy sweater.  They are one of the items we would highly recommend purchasing in the near future.

There are a ton of amazing options but we decided to select our favorites under $100.  We would love to know which ones are your faves so please share in the comments!
