Embroidered Details for the Win

Good morning, friends!

Hope you all are having a fantastic week so far.  This week has been pretty mellow around our household.  Ryan came down with a cold over the weekend so we have been taking it easy.  We have been spending time with family now that he’s on the mend.  Our nieces go back to school in two weeks so we are trying to soak up as much time with them as possible.  We are heading to lunch with them today and then I foresee several pool days in the near future, once Ryan is 100%.

David and I need to figure out a sleepover night for the girls over the next week or two.  When we moved into our house five years ago, we set up one of the guest rooms as a sleepover room for them.  Well, that room will soon be turned into the baby’s nursery so we have to have them sleep in there one last time before we move the twin beds out and move the crib in.  It is definitely bittersweet.  While we are elated for this baby, it seems like the end of a beautiful era with our nieces, who are so important to us.  They are older now and have school, homework, projects, activities, and what seems like 1,284 birthday parties too attend.  Their free time to sleep at our house is more limited these days.  Don’t get me wrong, we see them at least a couple of times a week but overnights have become less consistent.  I’ll have to plan something special for this last night in their room.  We’ll have to figure out where they’ll sleep in the future!  (Cough, cough, I turned our other guest bedroom into a craft room a few years back and I’m not putting them in the one in the basement.)

Tiffany and I met up on Sunday and I wrote this incredibly pretty (and comfortable) embroidered dress.  It is the perfect piece to throw on when you want to feel put together but don’t want to worry about your figure.  No Spanx necessary, no sucking in, no worrying about how much food you consume that night…just pure comfort.  Initially, the gorgeous sleeves drew me in.  I also loved the contrast of the bright colors against the dark black fabric.  It’s a perfect piece to transition into the fall as well as it looks great when paired with booties.  It definitely fits oversized so I HIGHLY recommend ordering down a size…if not two.  (For reference, I am 5’10 and typically wear a Large but always size down in Free People.  I ordered a Medium and even that will have to be taken in after this pregnancy.)

Have a wonderful day!

xoxo

Currently Crushing On…

Hi, friends!

Did everyone have a great weekend?  We had a relaxing weekend filled with trips to the playground and some much-needed nap time…for Ryan and for us.  We woke up on Sunday morning and it was snowing!  I know that most people weren’t thrilled about the possibility of snow but I was so excited.  Sadly, it snowed for a few hours but then the sun came out in full force and there was zero trace left of the snow by early afternoon.  We only had one decent snowfall this winter so I was hopeful for at least one more but that was likely our last chance because it seems spring is on its’ way.

Speaking of spring, I am crushing on several fun pieces for the transition into warmer temps.  Beautiful, soft blush tones appear to be consistent when pulling together the items that I am currently craving.  I have never thought of myself as a “pink” girl but I can’t seem to resist blush or any other muted palette this year!

Here are some items that I am currently crushing on…

1. Rebecca Minkoff bag 2. Quay Cherry Bomb sunnies 3. Moto Jacket 4. Splendid sandals 5. Slip Pillowcase                                                                            6. Baublebar statement necklace 7. Spring Pullover 8. Golden Goose 9. Show me Your Mumu Maxi

Hope you all have a fabulous day!

My First Bomber Jacket

Hi, all!

As some of you know, my family and I recently headed back to L.A. for two weeks.  While it rained the entire time we were there, it didn’t stop us from having a wonderful time.  We were able to take Ryan on several fun outings as well as set aside time for shopping for David, my mom and me during our time there.

During one shopping trip, I spotted several bomber jackets.  They were all over the store!  Unfortunately, most of them were too short for my long torso.  (Tiffany and I have been talking recently about how the cropped trend is back in full force for this spring and summer.  Let’s just say that this isn’t a trend that either of us plan to embrace.  Not that there is anything wrong with it, we are just two girls who prefer to have some coverage!)  Just before I was about to head into a fitting room, I spotted an adorable bomber.  It looked to be longer than the other ones in the store so I grabbed it and crossed my fingers.  It turned out to be perfect!  I was drawn to the fact that it somehow managed to be both hard and soft simultaneously.  The pattern is so cool as well.  There are so many plain colored bomber options so it was a fun to find this beautiful muted pattern.  For this look, I threw on a distressed black tee and some ripped denim.  While this look is super casual, this jacket can easily be dressed up if paired with a cool black dress and heels.  It is definitely a versatile piece that will transition perfectly into spring!

…and I had a little visitor show up…
