Madewell + Parlor Blow Dry Bar

Wednesday night Madewell and Parlor Dry Bar teamed up to host an event at Madewell in Crabtree Valley Mall.  Luckily, we were invited and we will never pass up an opportunity to shop, mingle and get beautified.

DSC_0099Here are some of our favorite items that we found (and possibly bought) while shopping…

They have the cutest socks!

Of course, we could not leave without one of us getting our hair braided by the girls over at Parlor Blow Dry Bar!  I was heading to hip-hop class (I will have to share my experience in a different post), so a braid was the perfect hairstyle to rock.  I wish I could braid my own hair because, I adore how it turned out.

All About Gray

We both adore gray.  We love to wear it, incorporate it into our homes, and even selected it for the font color Baubles & Backdrops.  It is such a beautiful neutral therefore it can prove easy to incorporate it into wardrobes and households.

Here are some of our favorite gray items that we have found recently…

Completely love this lightweight sweater from Anthropologie.  The simple top area mixed with the feminine lace detailing is an amazing combination.   Light enough materials to transition from the end of summer nights into the fall.  (We are also obsessing over the phenomenal necklace that the model is wearing.)

We have fallen for this stunning dinnerware set from Threshold™ for Target.  The scalloped edges and the subtle glaze make these pieces standout.  The 16-piece set includes 4 dinner plates, 4 cereal bowls, 4 salad plates, and 4 mugs for $59.99.

These Bella Vita booties are perfect for all seasons.  They would be adorable with a summer dress but would also be perfectly paired with an over-sized chunky sweater in the fall and winter months.  Loving the little bit of brown leather mixed in…it adds so much character to the boots.

This serving tray from West Elm is a great statement piece.  It is a wooden tray that is wrapped in aluminum with rivets added for amazing detail.  Serving trays are a great addition to any home because they are so versatile.  They can be used as a traditional tray, to create a pretty display for one’s favorite items, or placed on top of an ottoman or bar cart to add an additional layer to a space.

We just cannot seem to move on from our obsession with gray…and frankly, we don’t see any reason why we need to move on.  ; )  Hope you are all having a wonderful day!

No-Bake Energy Bites

We repeatedly saw the recipe for No-Bake Energy Bites pop up in our Pinterest feeds.  The recipe seemed simple enough but we wondered, just how tasty are these little treats?

The recipe only calls for oatmeal, chocolate chips, peanut butter, toasted coconut, honey,              vanilla extract and flax seed.  Seemed easy enough…and it was!   We were pleasantly surprised by just how yummy these little bites of goodness turned out, especially because it was such an easy task to make them.  Most surprisingly perhaps is the fact that they are delicious despite the fact that there is NO BUTTER included in the recipe.  If a granola bar and a peanut butter cookie had a baby, this is what it would taste like.

–  1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
–  1/3 cup of honey
–  1 tsp vanilla extract
–  1 cup old-fashioned oats (dry)
–  2/3 cup toasted shredded coconut
–  1/2 cup ground flaxseed meal
–  1/2 cup chocolate chips (we used regular-sized chips but we noticed that other recipes
                                               recommend using mini-chips)

In a mixing bowl, slowly stir together the peanut butter, honey and vanilla extract.  Mix the remaining ingredients in until everything is fully-coated.  Place the bowl in the refrigerator for approximately 30 minutes.  Once chilled, remove the mixture from the refrigerator and roll into 1-inch balls.  Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

Perhaps, the most important ingredient...

These make the perfect snack when you are in a hurry and just want to grab something quickly.  The peanut butter and the oats really help to make you feel like you are eating something substantial.  Please give us your feedback if you make them!  Hope that you enjoy them as much as we did!
