Pretty Peplum

Happy Wednesday!  Hope you all are having a great week.  I drove down to Charlotte last night and will be working from here the rest of the week before heading to the beach with the family on Saturday.  My goal is to see as many houses as possible during my downtime…say a little prayer we find something we love!

I’m sure you’ve seen this peplum a thousand times by now, but I couldn’t resist sharing this look with you.  I wore this to the Kendra Scott party we co-hosted on Friday and absolutely love how the blue popped off my white jeans. I mean I would wear white jeans year round – I love them that much!   I ordered this top months ago, but because so many people purchased, it was on back order.  I finally got it a few weeks ago and let me tell you that it was worth the wait.  I’m actually going to purchase in other colors.

You can shop my look and similar items below.

Have a great day!

All the Lace from Anthropologie

Good morning, friends!

Hope you all are having a great start to your week.  We were away in Virginia over the weekend.  One of David’s lifelong friends was getting married in their hometown.  Luckily, we were able to stay with David’s parents and Ryan spent quality time with them while we attended the wedding.  Every time anyone has asked about the wedding, I have to tell them about one of my favorite parts…The Cookie Table!  The bride is from Pittsburgh and it is a tradition there that an offering of cookies is presented to guests at the reception.  The cookies are to be homemade by the bride and groom’s family and friends.   Y’all, there was table after table piled high with every kind of cookie imaginable.  There were over 1500 cookies!  How do we help make this tradition universal mandatory at ALL weddings?  Guests were given to-go bags and were asked to take a bunch home.

Alright, let’s move on from all this cookie talk…it’s making me hungry.

Let’s talk about lace detailing.  I find it nearly impossible to resist a beautiful piece of clothing that incorporates lace or the look of lace.  This beautiful feminine detailing makes for a stunning impact.  The place that I go while hunting for a new top or dress which uses lace?  Anthropologie.  For several years, the store has done a wonderful job finding special pieces.  Currently, there are several amazing options so I wanted to share my favorites with you all.  Unfortunately, the tunic dress I am wearing in these pictures JUST sold out but there are so many incredible alternatives.  Simply click on the individual images to shop!

Tie Dye and White Denim

Morning, everyone!

I am heading out with my parents this morning.  They are building a place on the beach near Wilmington and we are in the midst of making design selections.  Today, we need to finalize flooring options.  I’ll show you our options on Snapchat today (username: baublesbackdrop).  While I have zero background in interior design, my mom has always been very talented and continues to have a great eye.  I grew up watching her seamlessly turn our houses into homes.  Because of this, I have always had a passion for design.  When David and I renovated our current home a few years ago, it was finally my opportunity to play around…and I loved every second.  Looking so forward to making selections today!

As we mentioned previously, Tiffany and I attended the Anthropologie Fashion Show in North Hills.  I opted to wear a tie-dyed Show me Your Mumu tunic and white jeans.  Man, I love white denim.  Throwing on the white jeans immediately brightened up my entire. Because the top was so busy, I kept accessories simple and paired one of my favorite pendant necklaces with my delicate “Ryan” necklace.

Going back to the tunic…I love this top but it felt a touch shapeless on my frame.  Because I have a larger chest, I need to be careful with how full the bottom of a top appears on me because it tends to add weight.  With long flowing tops like this one, I often tie a knot on the side.  It instantly decreases the boxiness of the top while also adding a bit of interest.  It is such a simple but effective trick for “tailoring” a oversized top.  It just dawned on me that I should do a before and after picture.  I’ll feature this trick in a post as soon as possible!
