Casual Wear

It’s Monday…urgh, not my favorite day of the week, but I had a great weekend with family and friends.  I absolutely love that I can make last minute plans now that I am in Charlotte.  Sunday, we had brunch with some friends then went to a birthday party, so I wanted to wear something comfortable for the party but also a little dressy for brunch.

Luckily, I had purchased this silk bell-sleeve top from J.Crew Factory several weeks ago and it was the perfect top to pair with jeans for a dressy casual look.  The top is available in 4 different colors and is under $50, but you can get an additional 35% off by using JUSTINTIME code through the end of the day.

Since I was going to a kid’s birthday party, I opted for flats and I am not exaggerating when I tell you that these leopard flats are THE MOST COMFORTABLE SHOES EVER.   They are right under $90, but they are totally worth it…trust me, you will love these shoes!

Well, I’m off to my day job, but I hope you all have a great week. Rudy and I are headed to Asheville on Wednesday…what are you up to this week?

“Grandpa Chic”

Happy Wednesday, all!

How is everyone’s week going?  Things around here continue to be busy…and productive.  I am finally seeing the light at the end of tunnel with regards to getting the house organized before baby girl’s arrival.  My goal is to have purged and organized every room and every closet.  The only thing I will not touch?  The unfinished storage area in our basement.  First of all, it’s completely daunting and unless David is by my side in there, I might have a breakdown.  So. Much. Stuff.  Second of all, our community has a massive garage sale each year so we are waiting until then to begin pulling everything out of storage.

On a positive (and exciting) note, I ordered several pieces for the nursery yesterday.  Her crib, dresser, chair and a mirror should all be coming within the next few weeks.  The plan is to order the two bunny prints that will hang above her crib later today.  Next up?  Find wallpaper for her crib wall.  I am trying to find a wall covering that will match the existing paint color and, so far, it hasn’t proven to be an easy task.  Fingers crossed that one of our local wallpaper shops will have a perfect match.  Maybe I’ll head there tomorrow.  Up until about a week ago, I had been super low-key about her room.  Ryan didn’t start sleeping in his room until he was between 3 and 4 months old so I wasn’t too concerned about having her nursery completed based on that timeline.  However, I don’t know what the heck happened this past week but now I’m like, “It’s game-time, people!”  I want everything DONE.

Part of this entire process involves cleaning out my closet.  I donated several bags of clothes last week and sent a ton of stuff to my favorite local consignment shop, Dress.  The irony?  The very next day, I received  shipment of items that I had ordered from Nordstrom.  My bad.  Inside the box was this amazing cardigan that I am wearing below.  While I have always loved what I fondly refer to as the Grandpa Chic look, I am LOVING these new cardigans that have a more slouchy look.  This particular one offers a less structured vibe and the color is pretty incredible.  I can absolutely understand why someone would shy away from this copper color but I couldn’t resist.  To keep the look fairly streamlined, I decided to pair it with all-black.

Have a wonderful rest of the week!

One of my Favorite Maternity Looks

Hope you all are having a fantastic week so far!

David left town again on Monday but came back on Wednesday so we have been elated to have him home .  He opened up another Rise Biscuits Donuts up in Richmond last weekend so he has been gone quite a bit in recent weeks.  Thankfully, things seem to be running smoothly so his travel will begin decreasing over the next month.

This week seems to have passed incredibly quickly but I am struggling to even remember what has been keeping us so busy.  I wish I could blame it on pregnancy brain but I think it’s just the way my brain now operates.  My memory is terrible…just awful.

I have now reached week 31 of pregnancy and putting together outfits each day is becoming slightly more difficult.  My goal during this pregnancy was to purchase less maternity pieces than I did last time around.  It just seems to crazy to spend all that money on articles of clothing that will no longer fit properly in just a matter of months.  There are so many amazing non-maternity options out there that you can wear with your growing belly.  I find that most longer tops and dresses from both Free People and Anthropologie can be worn during the full length of a pregnancy.

Despite my best efforts, there are some maternity pieces that I have purchased…the main two being jeans and a few skirts and dresses.  This black and white striped dress is one of those pieces and I couldn’t be more thrilled.  It is such a high quality piece and can easily be dressed up a bit for a bridal shower or worn with flip flops while strolling around on vacation.  I opted to pair it with an olive green vest as black and white stripes and olive green are one of my all-time favorite combinations!
