One of My Favorite Pregnancy Looks | Kimonos

Good morning, friends!  Hope you all had a wonderful weekend.  We kept busy with a Halloween train ride, family time and our anniversary dinner.  The Halloween ride was pretty great.  Our sister-in-law and our nieces were able to join us so Ryan couldn’t have been happier.  He absolutely loves those sweet girls.  It took place at The Museum of Life and Science in Durham.  You ride the train at the museum and you are dropped off in the woods where they have a makeshift pumpkin patch set up and various Halloween activities.  I was worried that it might be “too young” for the girls but they enjoyed the experience.  I definitely recommend it if you are local to the area and have young kids, especially toddlers.

Sunday was David’s and my sixth wedding anniversary so we headed to downtown Raleigh for dinner at Vidrio.  We figured that it would be our last night out for awhile seeing as this baby could come any day now.  It is always so nice to venture out, just the two of us.  We try our best to catch up on everything going on in each other’s lives in detail and to not simply sit there talking about Ryan.  (No offense to Ry.)  It’s so easy to fall into that habit but we both want to ensure that the conversation isn’t dominated by “parent talk”.    A good rule is to allow 5-10 minutes at the beginning of the night to talk about your child(ren) and then another 5-10 minutes at the end but to fill the majority of your evening with talk about other areas of your lives.

As I enter the final days of pregnancy, it is becoming increasingly difficult to fit into anything.  I have even outgrown my maternity PJ’s and a few tops.  The baby has grown so much this past week!  Making it increasingly more difficult is that it is still so hot and muggy here.  Ugh, it’s been brutal this week.  While getting ready for our anniversary dinner, I was so thankful for my recent kimono purchase.  It allowed me to feel more dressed up than throwing on an oversized tee but still provided a ton of comfort.  The best thing about this kimono trend?  They can be worn both during pregnancy as well as after pregnancy.  I love pieces that transition so easily!

Have you jumped on the kimono train?  I have shared some of my favorites below…

My Favorite Sweater for Fall

This morning, Ryan and I decided to channel the fall vibes and head out onto our deck in the early hours of the morning.  It is only a matter of hours before the sun is perched high in the sky and the temperatures are well into the 80’s again so being out there while the dew still covered the ground and while the air was still a touch cool was exactly what we both needed this morning.  While we were out there I giggled and thought, “I should wear my new favorite fall sweaters out here from 7am-8am every morning seeing as I won’t be wearing them much any time soon.”

This little venture outside while the sun was rising served two purposes.  The first reason simply being that it felt refreshing and was a nice little escape from our morning routine.  The second?  If you watch our Instastories, you may already know that Ryan has been waking close to 5am for the last two months.  After speaking with our sleep consultant several weeks ago, we made some changes in hopes of getting him back on track.  Well, nothing has helped so after speaking with her again yesterday, she suggested taking Ryan outside around 7am to try and help his circadian rhythm adjust.  Man, I cannot tell you how much I am praying that this works.  I don’t mind waking at 6am, but 5am is just exhausting.  Fingers crossed that these mornings spent outside help!

Who else is anxiously awaiting fall?  This 35 week pregnant lady cannot wait.  Sweaters, scarves, coats…I want them all.  Speaking of sweaters, I recently found this adorable (non-maternity) sweater dress and wanted to share it with you all.  The color is gorgeous and the statement sleeves sealed the deal.  As I mentioned, this is a sweater dress but I opted to style it as a sweater and pair it with jeans.  However, this will definitely be worn as a dress with cute tights and booties as well as paired with faux leather leggings and black over the knee boots once the weather becomes cooler.  There are so many styling options!

One of my Favorite Maternity Looks

Hope you all are having a fantastic week so far!

David left town again on Monday but came back on Wednesday so we have been elated to have him home .  He opened up another Rise Biscuits Donuts up in Richmond last weekend so he has been gone quite a bit in recent weeks.  Thankfully, things seem to be running smoothly so his travel will begin decreasing over the next month.

This week seems to have passed incredibly quickly but I am struggling to even remember what has been keeping us so busy.  I wish I could blame it on pregnancy brain but I think it’s just the way my brain now operates.  My memory is terrible…just awful.

I have now reached week 31 of pregnancy and putting together outfits each day is becoming slightly more difficult.  My goal during this pregnancy was to purchase less maternity pieces than I did last time around.  It just seems to crazy to spend all that money on articles of clothing that will no longer fit properly in just a matter of months.  There are so many amazing non-maternity options out there that you can wear with your growing belly.  I find that most longer tops and dresses from both Free People and Anthropologie can be worn during the full length of a pregnancy.

Despite my best efforts, there are some maternity pieces that I have purchased…the main two being jeans and a few skirts and dresses.  This black and white striped dress is one of those pieces and I couldn’t be more thrilled.  It is such a high quality piece and can easily be dressed up a bit for a bridal shower or worn with flip flops while strolling around on vacation.  I opted to pair it with an olive green vest as black and white stripes and olive green are one of my all-time favorite combinations!
