Perfect Turtleneck Sweater

Hey friends!  Hope you all had a fabulous weekend!  Here in Charlotte, the weather was perfect and I was actually able to wear a sweater on Sunday.  I’ve been anxiously waiting for the weather to cool down enough to wear this beautiful turtleneck sweater from StyleWe.  When I received this sweater in the mail, I was amazed at how soft and luxurious it felt.  I even said something to my husband about it and made him feel how soft it was…he thinks I’m crazy, as usual.

Come to find out, this sweater is made from a Cashmere blend, which explains the softness, but don’t worry – this piece will not break the bank.  It’s less than $100, which isn’t bad considering you could wear during Fall and Winter.  I wore a long tank under my sweater yesterday, but I can easily layer with a thicker, long-sleeve shirt and wear during Winter.

I was torn on how to style this for you guys, because you could really dress it up for a holiday party or keep it casual for a night out or even a family gathering.  I chose to pair my sweater with ripped jeans and over-the-knee boots. I personally, love this look.  You know when you put something on and you just feel like yourself?  Well, this outfit does it for me.  I don’t wear red often, but I know that this will be a go-to throughout the holiday season.

Hope you all have a wonderful week!

Our Final Moments as a Family of Three

few weeks ago, my little family of three met up with my friend and photographer, Cat Wilborne, to capture some images.  It was important to me that we have special photographs to remember our last days as a family of three before baby Emerson entered the world.  I also wanted to forever have pictures of me with what will be my final pregnant belly.  Despite being so ill the first five months during my pregnancies, I absolutely LOVED being pregnant.  Feeling my sweet babies move and kick inside me is my favorite feeling I will ever experience.  Part of me was even sad when they were born only because providing a home for them inside my belly made me feel so content…peaceful even.  It is difficult to believe that I will not feel that beautiful movement inside ever again.  Because that belly was a home to five babies but we only have two here with us today, both David and I are have decided to count our lucky stars and enjoy our family of four.  I’ll likely write a post about that decision sometime in the future as there are several more reasons that helped us confidently land on that decision.

We are so thankful that we were able to shoot this pictures (three weeks before Emerson’s due date) because our sweet girl decided to surprise us and make her appearance less than a week later!  Also, you may have noticed by now that Ryan is obsessed with construction vehicles.  A least one vehicle makes it into every photoshoot and during this particular shoot, it was his excavator.  Seeing it in his tiny hand will forever make me smile when I look at these images in years to come.

Thank you all for allowing us to share our journey with you!

xoxo

Black & Cream

Happy Monday, friends!  Fingers crossed that you all have a great start to the week.  In our household, weekends and weekdays have been running together since Emmy’s arrival.  Besides the fact that Ryan goes to preschool a few days each week, there is zero other difference between a Saturday and a Wednesday in our home.  Everyone is adjusting well to being a family of four.  I have to give Ryan a big shoutout.  During my pregnancy, I shed countless tears and spent many hours worrying about how much his little sister’s birth would rock his world.  Well, she has shaken up his world…in the most amazing way possible.  He ADORES his baby sister.  He wants her to be in the same room as him at all times and only likes to refer to her by her full name, Emerson.  It’s the sweetest.  This isn’t to say that issues won’t arrive and that behaviors won’t rear their heads but, for now, his response to her has been pretty close to perfect.

We have been venturing out a little bit recently.  This is such a different experience because when Ryan was born, I refused to take him anywhere until he was three months old and had been vaccinated.  It was also December so cuddling up inside was highly appealing.  We are taking very precaution with Emmy, like only eating outside at a restaurant and keeping her covered up in her bassinet.  It’s just so beautiful outside that we can’t resist.  More importantly, Ryan needs to spend time outdoors and outside the home.  Being out and about makes him unbelievably happy…even if it’s just a run to the grocery store.

Because my body is far from where it was pre-pregnancy, I am trying to put together looks that draws attention away from my soft and round belly.  The easiest way to do this is to 1. Wear black and 2. Wear layers.  When I spotted this amazing cardigan, it was an easy decision to bring it home.  The classic black and cream color scheme drew me in initially but the insane softness won me over.  Plus, it’s a great layering piece that can be worn over a tank in the fall or over a black turtleneck in the colder months for a sophisticated bundled up look.
